This design is much more final. Everything looks just a bit nicer and all the failures from the previous designs have been taken care of.
Went back to the sharp angles, I think they look cooler, however all 90° edges have been chamfered because as it turns out 3D printed perfect right angles are actually pretty brutally sharp.
After making sure I actually prepared every piece properly before dropping them on the printer, now gonna rip all the different parts one after another.
At this point though my story is a little ahead of itself. Before going back to my black spools I spent most of the evening trying to get this ancient ass spool from 2017 that came with the original Snapmaker to work. But it was really brittle and just not adhering to the platter no matter how much I brute forced it.
At one point I actually had it working finally, and then half way through the print the spool had a tangle that caused it to stop feeding. It printed for about two hours before I noticed it had actually quit extruding.
Result of that failure is you can see how the inside is, which I guess is kind of cool. This morning though I just had to go and get proper new filament and after doing so, these parts came out of the printer back to back pretty easy. The first time it was all assembled was pretty great.
And the only thing left is to bolt these to the wall. I'm using some drywall anchours rated for 80lbs in 1/2in drywall. The stuff here appears to be 3/4in so I am just going to pretend that means its even stronger. The collar is purposely straddling the stud, its not the job of this to bear weight. The unit that gets bolted below will end up directly on the stud the collar is currently straddling.
Next up... the pelvic hitching post.
